The Church— Filling of the Holy Spirit
Acts 2v42-47 Here is a group of people that baffles the world. Acts 2v37-38 The reason they were as they were was because they were convicted and moved by the Holy Spirit, they confessed Jesus, and demonstrated their faith in baptism. Then, having been brought this far by the work of Holy Spirit, they were filled and indwelt by the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:5 The Lord had told the disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 1v13-14 The promised Holy Spirit seals us and indwells us. |||||| WHAT NEXT? Acts 4v23-24, 29-31 As the church prays, they are filled with the Holy Spirit and given boldness. Acts 2v4, Acts 4v7-8, Acts 4v29-31 God’s people are constantly filled with the Spirit. Ephesians 5v17-18 The filling of the Holy Spirit is a command. Keep on being filled with the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5v16,25 Walk by the Spirit. Ephesians 6v17-18 Pray in the Spirit. |||||| WHAT DOES THIS LOOK LIKE? Ephesians 5v17-18 One does not get drunk by looking at the drink or speaking about it. And to stay drunk, one must keep drinking. Every child of God who is indwelt by the Holy Spirit, is dependent completely and constantly on the Holy Spirit. Acts 4:29-31 Those who were filled with the Holy Spirit were bold. They are disciplined, diligent, and continually looking to God for help and guidance. John 15v4-5 Apart from God, we can do absolutely nothing. Phil 4v12-13 In contrast, with God we can do everything. Psalm 18v28-30 This is what it looks like. The early church was the way they were because they were dependent on the aid and guidance of the Holy Spirit and continually being filled by Him.
