Prayer is love for God
We have seen that PRAYER IS *WORSHIP OF GOD *FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD *FAITH IN GOD. Today we will see that PRAYER IS
* LOVE FOR GOD. We could describe and define a Christian in many ways: One who loves to worship God, one who seeks to share the gospel, one who pleads with the Lord for the souls of those are unconverted. All these definitions are right but to have a definition that covers all this, it would be that a Christian is ONE WHO LOVES GOD. Deut 5:10, Deut 6:4-5, Mark 12:12-33 To love the Lord your God is the greatest commandment. What privileges are given to those who love Him! Rom 8:28 to those who love God. 1Cor 2:9 to those who love Him. Jam 2:5 to those who love Him. 1Jn 4:19 we love. 1Jn 5:2 When we love God. Genuine Christian faith is a deep uncompromising love for the God of holy scripture, the greatest love story that has ever been told. Eph 5:32. Eph 1: 11-14. |||| But when He chose us, we were in a mess—dead in trespass and sin. Eph2: 1-3. But God, because of His great love saved us. Rom 5:8 God showed His love to us,while we were still sinners, Christ died. For our sake He made Him to be sin for us. 2Cor5:21. God went into such great lengths for His bride. And that was not all; then He gives His bride a new heart. Ez 36:26 Heb 8:9-10. And she falls in love with Him. They who hated God now love God. It is a love story without beginning and without end. “Loved with everlasting love, / Led by grace that love to know; / Spirit, breathing from above, / Thou hast taught me it is so. / Oh, this full and perfect peace! / Oh, this transport all divine! / In a love which cannot cease, / I am His, and He is mine.” What has all this got to do with prayer? How would the bride respond to the transforming love of God? Surely the answer is with adoration, praise, thanksgiving, and gratitude. Surely this will be the natural reaction from the very depths of her soul with praise to God. We can identify with the Psalmist in Psalm 63:1-8, Psalm 42:1-2, Psalm 73:25-26, Psalm 36:5,9. A wonderful love story indeed! Song of Solomon 2:3-7
