Abraham’s Faith And Ours

Abraham’s Faith And Ours | Romans 4:17-22 | Ian Goodman
We see the Object of his faith. His faith was in God! This seems an obvious point, but a necessary one. So often our faith is not truly on God but in our faith itself and the strength of it, and therefore ultimately our faith is in ourselves. But this is not what we see in Abraham. He did not look to his own faith to save him, but to God who is the proper object of our faith.
We see the reasonableness of his faith. Though he had much reason to doubt - his hundred year old body, his barren wife—yet he had far more reason to believe, for he was “in the presence of the God… who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.”
We see the strengthening of his faith. “He grew strong in faith as he gave glory to God.” Abraham had a big view of God, which enabled him to have a big faith in God. Abraham knew God was powerful and able to do what he had promised. Increase your vision of God and you will increase your faith in God!
