Glory To Him Who Loves Us
Glory to Him Who Loves Us
(Rev. 1:4-8)
Ps. Andre Bay
Thank God for this day of your church's 10th anniversary!
Couple of questions...
What makes you come back week after week to worship the Lord Jesus? This question can only be answered when we know what worship and church really are.
How does the Bible describe a church? A body...the Bride...citizens of a kingdom...
Now we go to the Book of Revelation where Jesus sent His message to the seven churches of Asia, through John.
As a soldier whose goal is to be steadfast and to annihilate the enemy, so are we. We wage war, not with swords, missiles or guns, but with righteousness and truth. We eventually receive a reward - a crown - which we will constantly lay down before our Lord Jesus because we know that it is He who has won this battle.
This is not a kingdom that comes to an end, rather one that will last for eternity. We are subjects of an Eternal King.
Important truths about our battalion:
I. What you have in Jesus (v. 4)
- We have GRACE and PEACE from the almighty, eternal Father.
- It is a greeting from the Spirit - we have the Father, and the Spirit! (Isaiah 11:2).
- A greeting, also, from the Word incarnate, Jesus Christ -- (a) the Prophet/Faithful Witness, (b) the First Born of the dead/High Priest, (c) the Sovereign Ruler.
- This is Who we worship!
II. Who you are in Jesus (v. 5-6)
- We are loved by an immutable God -- from eternity past up to this day!
- We are freed from the slavery of sin and the condemnation of the law (Romans 8:1).
- He made us a kingdom and priests/mediators of God (1 Peter 2:5, 9-10).
III. What we can look forward to in Jesus (v. 7-8)
- As we worship the Lord, let us know that He is the King who is coming back!
- He will appear on the clouds and the whole world will know and bow down before Him.
- He is the pierced King (the slain Lamb) who will return.
Are we looking forward to this, brethren?
Today, know that we are loved in Christ and that we have hope and a message to proclaim until He comes back.
Glory to Him who loves us!
