Jesus the only Name by which we must be saved

Jesus the only Name by which we must be saved
John 1:1-5
Have we got so familiar with the name "Jesus" that we forgot the wonder of this Person?
"And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)
In the Book of John, the author makes sure he relates the true importance of this NAME. He also tells us in John 20:31 the purpose of his writings - "that you might believe that Jesus is the Messiah and that by believing you might have life in His name."
3 important facts to the person of Christ:
1. Jesus is the Eternal God
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. (John 1:1-2)
There is another passage in the Bible that the phrase "in the beginning..." was spoken, and it is in the Book of Genesis where God spoke the creation into existence.
John is saying that this Word by which God created was Jesus. (John 1:14)
He was there before the world began, present throughout the Old Testament and the God incarnate in the New Testament.
Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am." (John 8:58)
2. Jesus is the Maker of the world
All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. (John 1:3)
All things were created through Him and for Him. (Colossians 1:16-17)
Therefore, our views of this world, without reference to our Maker and Sustainer, will just bring about chaos.
3. Jesus is Life
In him was life, and the life was the light of men. (John 1:4)
Life doesn't live outside of Christ, instead, it is found in Him.
The life manifest in Jesus is the light that shows us the way.
"In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son..." (Hebrews 1:1-2)
He is the radiance of God's glory, the exact representation of His being.
This light shines in the darkness even of our lives. If we try and find the purpose of life, we need our eyes opened to this Person.
The darkness has not overcome it. All is not lost in Christ.
How does this affect our lives?
Have we turned to the One true source of life?
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, (John 1:12)
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
This Jesus is prepared to give that light to you, to save you from darkness because He had borne the cross and was nailed to it.
Repent and come to God through Christ!
