Psalm 90
Psalm 90 is the oldest psalm written by Moses as he looked out over the graves of an unfaithful generation. In this psalm, he calls God’s people to number their days with wisdom and hope.
God is our Everlasting Dwelling Place (Psalm 90:1–2): Moses reminds us here that while generations rise and fall, God Himself remains our eternal home and refuge.
Human Life is Brief and Fragile (Psalm 90:3–6): Our lives fade like grass in the morning sun, urging us to face our frailty with humility.
We Deserve the Wrath of God (Psalm 90:7–11): Moses confronts us with the sobering reality that our sins place us under God’s righteous judgment.
The Prayer for Wisdom (Psalm 90:12): We are taught to ask God to teach us to number our days rightly so we may live with true wisdom.
The Prayer for Covenant Mercy (Psalm 90:13–15): Moses pleads for God’s steadfast love to renew and satisfy His people, turning sorrow into joy.
The Prayer that Shapes Christian Mission (Psalm 90:16–17): The psalm ends with a longing for God to display His sovereign power through His people and establish the work of their hands for His glory.
