The Church as it ought to be 3
Why do so few churches resemble this early church described in Acts 2:42-47? Just as Delilah asked Sampson to tell her where his great strength lay, we ask where the beauty of the New Testament Church lies, and the answer can be seen in Acts 2:36-39. ||||| 1. Acts 2:36 They have COME UNDER DEEP CONVICTION— of sin, rebellion against God and rejection of Jesus— through the Holy Spirit. John 16v7and 8 ||||| 2. Acts 2v38 They have REPENTED OF THEIR SIN, Luke 15v20and 21 ||||| 3. Acts 2v38 They have BEEN BAPTISED, identifying themselves with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Rom 6v3and 4 ||||| 4. Acts 2v38 They have RECEIVED THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. The third person of the Trinity takes up residence in the hearts of believers when they are truly converted. Rom 8v9 ||||| Acts 2v38and 39 This blessed state is open to all who would come.
