The church_Part 2

Last week we saw: 1. The Church belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ (I will build MY church) 2. The Church is built by the Lord Jesus Christ (I WILL BUILD my church) 

Today: 3. The Church is built on the Lord Jesus Christ (ON THIS ROCK I will build my church) When Jesus asked who people thought He was, Peter said: You are the Christ the Son of the living God. Not just Peter, but any one who can say this and believe it can only do this by the Spirit of God.
You are Peter (petros which is a detached rock or stone or boulder) but on the Rock (petra which refers to a large mass of immovable rock) Jesus builds His church. Eph 2:19-22, 1Cor 3:11, Gal 1:6-8, 2Cor 11:3, “The church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord.”

4. The Church is bound to conquer (the gates of hell will not prevail against it) This shows there is going to be conflict. But progress follows persecution. Today multitudes of Muslims are coming to Christ in Iran and Iraq amidst much persecution. It is said: The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church. Though they are killed, the child of God can never perish; no one can snatch them out of Jesus’ hands. John 10:28, John 6:39-40 None will be lost. Acts 7:54-60 Are not people lost by desertion? 1John 2:19. Every last soul will be safe for whom He died. He takes every last soldier home to Him.
