Things that accompany salvation 2

[Vs 9] There are many things that accompany salvation. [Vs 10] When someone is truly regenerate, they have a new love for God. With their new love for the Lord Jesus Christ, comes a love for the family of God, for the saints. [Vs 11] This verse speaks of assurance that the child of God is given. 2Peter 1:10 Given not just to some Christians but this is for all. These things that accompany salvation do not just fall on our lap. As we diligently read scripture, and work out our salvation with fear and trembling, we find our assurance of salvation. Phil 2:12-13 Assurance of salvation comes as a result of that which accompanies it. Psalm 73:1-17, 24-26 Note how the Psalmist’s tone changes and assurance returns when he goes into the sanctuary. Heb 10:23-25. So assurance is also strengthened with fellowship of believers. [Vs 12] This talks about being spiritually sluggish, lazy, dull in hearing. Necessity of being spiritually sharp and having the whole armour of God. Examples to imitate: Our ultimate example is Jesus. But we have to imitate believers who have set a good example, like Paul asks believers to follow his example just as he follows Christ. Heb 11 gives us many examples too. These people inherited the promise — the promises of God, that the holy scriptures is full of. Faith and patience go together. Again, you cannot have the one without the other. The Christian not just has saving faith but we also have sustaining faith, resting on the promises of God, making them our own. 2Cor 5:6-7 Patience waits for the promises to come to pass. We see faith and patience working together in Heb 11:7 in Noah. Mat 8:25-26. 2Pet1:3-4. Patience and faith accompany salvation, granted by His divine power.
