Three Days that Changes the Destiny of Millions

We hold two periods in history as of greatest importance ** When God in human flesh was born in Bethlehem ** When, 33 years later, He hung on the cross outside Jerusalem to die for the sins of His people, He was buried, and He rose from the dead. The second event leaves us in absolute awe and wonder, which hymn writers have tried to capture in verse. |||||| FRIDAY From a human point of view, Good Friday does not seem like a suitable name for that day. Mk15:33 Why did the earth grow dark at a time when the sun should have been at the brightest. God had taken His Son and punished His son for the elect who He had chosen in His son before the foundation of the world. Our punishment as a result of the holy justice of God fell on His Son. 2 Cor 5:21. Was it for me He came to die! Mk15:34 No child of God can hear the cry "Eloi Elioi lama sabachthani?" and not cry, "Oh my dear Saviour, that suffering should have been mine. I am the guilty one. Thank you." John 19:30 Jesus said "It is finished." All the sacrifices. . . all the types. . . all the waiting... The price has been payed in full. The demands of a holy God were fully met. Mk15:37 He released His spirit. John 10:17-18.  Mk15:38 The way into the holy of holies was wide open. The barrier between single man and a holy God was removed. All may now come. |||||| SATURDAY Saturday must have been terrible, and then night fell. |||||| SUNDAY Early Sunday morning. An earthquake. Stone is rolled away. Angel speaks to the women. Death could not keep its prey. / He tore the bars away. He rose victorious over death and the grave. Through death he destroyed the one who had power over death, the devil. If we have been united with him in a death like His we will certainly be united with Him in a resurrection like His. . . Rom 6:5-11. O death where is your sting. O grave where is your victory. May we not become so familiar with this account that we are not awed by it.
