Abraham saved by faith in Jesus

Abraham Saved Through Faith In Christ | Romans 4:20-25 | Ian Goodman
It’s been clearly taught in Romans 4 that Abraham was saved by faith. But faith in what? Is there connection between us and Abraham simply that we both have faith and are justified, or is there more commonality than this. As we look more closely and through a biblical theological lens at the promise God makes to Abraham and the promise God makes to us in Christ, we find that it is really the same promise. Abraham was indeed saved by faith in Jesus Christ. The only difference being that Jesus Christ wasn’t explicitly named and known to Abraham as He is to us.
We can trace the promise made to Abraham back further than him—all the way to Adam and Eve in fact. There God makes a promise to the serpent in the presence of Adam and Eve: “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”
This is a promise that one day “He” - the woman's Offspring - would crush the head of the serpent. They would not have known that this was referring to Jesus Christ and His crucifixion, however, they would have known that a champion was coming who would bring restoration and victory over the serpents' work.
It’s with this in the background that Abraham here believes the promise made to him. The promise of a Son, and of all the nations of the world being blessed through him and his Son. Gal 3:16 makes it clear that this true Offspring/Son of Abraham is Jesus Christ. So Abraham is saved not by a different promise to the one made to us, but the same promise—the promise of a Son! The Son was the same Son who would crush the head of the serpent, who would restore us and undo the works of the serpent, and who would also cause salvation to go into the world and eventually bring us into a land like the garden of Eden - the New Heavens and Earth!
The whole Bible is about Jesus Christ and God glorifying Himself through Him. Praise God and His Son Jesus Christ!
