The Church — Keys of the Kingdom_Part 2

Last week we saw that the Preaching of the gospel was one of the keys given to the church. Today we will look at the other key of Church discipline. Why do we use church discipline? | 1. Because of the spiritual good of its members 1Cor 5:1-5 The disciplined member is out there exposed to the temptation and trials until he understands the error of his ways and comes back to the fold where he will be welcomed. This key is used with a trembling hand and with bitter tears. | 2. For the spiritual purity of the church (1Cor 5:6) Just a pinch of leaven will permeate a whole batch of dough. If sin is not dealt with, the whole church will be contaminated. 1Cor 15:33-34, Rev 2:1-5, Rev 3:1-3 | 3. For the glory of the Head of the church Heb 6:6
