THE CHRISTIAN’S TREASURE TROVE

A treasure trove is a collection of valuable, delightful, and very precious things. This is visible to all those around us, as it is important to us and cannot be kept secret. We know what those around us consider precious. Changes are made in our lives in this matter. Some things do not have the same appeal as they did earlier, and we remove those objects from our treasure trove. |||||||| What is it that causes a person to be so focussed and obsessed about their treasure. The answer is LOVE. Our treasure stems from our love, and it cannot be hidden. Jn 11:33-36. The Jews who observed Jesus weeping rightly concluded that He loved Lazarus deeply. Love is strong; the power of love and the wonder of love is clear from 1Corinthians 13, and is obvious to others. Love cannot be imparted to someone else. We can impart knowledge but not love. We can exhort others and appeal to others to love but we cannot make them love. If we move someone to doing something, then they would be doing it out of a sense of duty. So also we can tell but not make others, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.” 1Jn 4:7-8 The ability to love comes from God, “for God is love.” |||||||| Reading through the Psalms is a great blessing, and it is so clear what the treasure of the Psalmists was. Ps 27:4, Ps 42:1-2, Ps 63:1-6, Ps 84: 1-3,10. They were ordinary men who had fallen in love with God. Their love is so obvious. Can those around see our love for God. Do we love God. “Solid joys and lasting treasure / None but Zion’s children know”. Phil 3:7-8 Where is your greatest treasure?
