YOUR GREATEST NEED

“You must be born again.” Jn 3:7b. Some things are needs and some are wants. Some of the needs are more important than others. “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, but lose his soul?” -Mark 8:36. The eternal wellbeing of our eternal soul is of utmost importance. Nothing is more important. Millions of years from now, we will be alive in one of two places. Jesus ignores Nicodemus’ opening sentence about His signs and addresses the crux of the matter. Miracles that happen in the world are only for a season. The water that turned into wine was enjoyed for a short time. Even Lazarus who Jesus raised later died. ||||| ABSOLUTE NECESSITY OF THE NEW BIRTH: Don’t marvel that I said to you, you MUST be born again. No exceptions, everyone must be born again. Nothing is more important. If you really love your children, your greatest concern will be for their spiritual wellbeing and will come before their pleasure, education, and even health. Our family, our neighbours, our nation. They need to be born again. Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. ||||| AMAZING NATURE OF THE NEW BIRTH: How can a man be born when he is old? Jesus made it clear that there are two births, physical and spiritual. We are familiar with the first. Flesh gives birth to flesh; this is miraculous. The spiritual birth is even more miraculous. John 1:13 tells us that we are born of God. Our first birth makes us a child of our earthly father. If we are born a second time, we become a child of God, born from above. The assurance of this,  1John 3:1-2 tells us, that those who are born again are with out question children of God

The nature/evidence of the new birth is in the transformation in their lives: 1 Jn 1:9 God’s seed is in them. Does not keep sinning. 2Pet1:3-4 Has escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. 1Pet 3:8-10 Does not make a practice of sinning. 2Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! Literally! ||||| HOW CAN I BORN AGAIN? Jn 3:14ff They must come to the cross, forsaking their sin, casting aside tradition and religion, and reach out to Jesus to save them from their sin.
