God’s Wrath and Grace Toward the Mind

God’s Wrath and Grace Toward the Mind
One of the greatest gifts that God has given to us is our mind. However, if we refuse to use our minds to acknowledge God, then the wrath of God is unleashed against our minds and we are handed over to a debased mind, the result being all manner of unrighteousness coming forth.
It's strange think to think that both the regenerate mind and the debased mind are both under God's sovereign control. The first is given by grace without merit to God's elect, the second is given by wrath to those who do not see fit to acknowledge God (Rom 1:28-29). However, though both are under God's sovereignty, they do not both come from God in the same way. The regenerate mind comes from God's active intervention and is given by grace. The debased mind does not come from any intervention by God, it exists already in sinners (all sinners), God merely hands sinners over to it as an act of judgment.
What is the solution to this debased mind? Jesus tells us in John 3, when Nicodemus comes to him by night, the first thing Jesus says to him is “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” This is the only solution to the debased mind - regeneration!!
But how does this happen? In many ways that is a silly question. No one can make themselves born again, to give birth to oneself is impossible. So how are you born? The answer is it must be done to you; you cannot bring it about yourself.
John 3 does not stop with this statement from Jesus on the need to be born again. It goes on V16 -18 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God +did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God."
If we are willing to believe, then we are born again! As a child only cries for his mother because he’s been born, so a child of God only cries for God because he's been born again. Are you willing to cry out to God in faith? If so, do it, and you can be sure that the wrath against your mind has ended, and you are born again!
