Remember God's Warnings
Jude 1:5:8
Almost no one wants to sound the alarm but in reality, they remind us of the potential threat at hand. Jude has sounded a loud warning - not out of spite or hatred but out of concern and love for the brethren.
Jude knew the need for us to be kept reminded because forgetfulness is real even among Christians. We need to be constantly topped up, hence, the importance of daily study of the Word.
Jude warns us of the perversion that the false believers commit:
1. The unbelief of the Exodus (v. 5)
The same way that the 10 spies (who gave negative report) wanted to lead the people back to Egypt, these false believers want to lead God's people back to the world and its sensualities.
These people weren't destroyed for their immorality or fear but for their unbelief in God.
2. The unrest of the angels (v. 6)
There has been debate as to what this is referring to:
a. Fall of Satan and demons prior to the temptation in the garden of Eden
b. What happened in Gen. 6 - angels procreating with human beings
The first one is the more likely option.
These angels were given some authority but stepped outside the boundaries that the Lord had set. Those who commit the same will suffer the same punishment that these rebellious angels were saved for on the judgment day.
3. The unnatural conduct of Sodom & Gomorrah (v. 7)
Reference Genesis 19
These apostates indulge themselves in sexual immorality.
The warning is to not set aside God's law nor go against what the Lord has set as natural.
We are to reject our inclinations, dreams, thoughts, ambitions that are contrary to the Word of God.
If you want to avoid eternal fire and chains, then you will contend for the faith once and for all delivered to the saints.
