Sexual immorality and moral decay in the world

Here we are taught that the moral decay of our world is no accident or coincidence, it is the wrath of God on display as He hands people over to their sin and disordered inclinations.
Paul’s argument is this: because men have exchanged the glory of God for images and idols, God has handed the sinner over to their sin and to another kind of exchange—that of natural relations for unnatural ones.
The good news is that the gospel is sufficient to save and rescue a person even from this state. In fact, the very reason Paul wants to preach the gospel in Rome is because the gospel deals with the wrath of God, which is the very reason God hands people over to these unnatural desires. The gospel is the solution to disordered desire. Christ is truly the all-sufficient Saviour!

IMPLICATIONS of God’s handing over people, so that they indulged in homosexual behaviour:
-The fact that this is real should give us a heart of compassion
- The fact that this behaviour is a result of God’s handing over shows that the behavior is wrong and sinful and bad for us.
- If it is God who is handing over, then it is only God who can rescue.
WHY God hands over
Because they exchanged the glory of the immortal God with images of created things. Today, we make idols of hobbies and our bank account. This is the reason that God hands people over to the moral decay that comes from sin.
The word 'exchange is seen in Vs 23, 25, 26. If you give up God's design for you to pursue God, then you will be given up to sexuality that is not part of God's design. When God is in the right place, your orientations will also be in the right place.

HEALING of the Moral Decay
The gospel saves. When you believe, no more wrath exists against you to hand you over. But sinful disordered inclinations may remain and will have to be dealt with. The only place to be save is in the gospel of Jesus. With belief in Jesus, you are rescued from wrath and the handing over.
