THE MORE EXCELLENT WAY
1 Cor 13:1-13
What is more to be desired than any other Christian gift or virtue? LOVE
In everything we are enriched in Him so that we are not lacking any gift. (V5)
However, if we have all the gifts but not have love, then it gains us nothing.
Paul said that not everyone who said "Lord, Lord" will enter the kingdom of God. (Matthew 7:21)
This is a reminder and warning that we should set our eyes on things that really matter away from seeking self-promotion and provoking pride.
Love is the evidence of the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Jesus is the best example of a love-giver - unconditional, sacrificial, selfless.
Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. (Ephesians 5:1-2)
Characteristics of Love:
Love is patient,
love is kind
It does not envy
It does not boast
It is not proud
It does not dishonor others
It is not self-seeking
It is not easily angered
It keeps no record of wrongs
It does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
No other way that we find these things than in Jesus. Be reminded of these things and look ever upon our Beloved Christ.
Do you find this love in your heart?
